Not the first time the Theosophical Society has been obliged to downgrade from substantial premises. The superb BMA House in Tavistock Square is a Lutyen's designed building of considerable Edwardian grandeur, now occupied by the BMA and a few related medical businesses. But it was originally designed for the Theosophical Society in 1911. Enthusiasm for their brand of mysticism was already waning and the Great War didn't exactly help matters, with the half completed building requisitioned by the army for the duration. With the war over, the Theosophists were obliged to sell the still incomplete building to the BMA and move out. Perhaps they should consider the now fashionable remote working model?

It's not often that one comes across a comment about theosophy (which, by the way, continues to flourish in India, where it's associated with the Arya Samaj movement). It was especially exciting to find it at the bottom of a story about foxes illustrated with some very fine illustrations of our vulpine friends in their natural habitats. Coincidentally, just a few hours ago I was writing about a curious theosophist memorial in Esher, which has a part to play in my Surrey-based vampire novel. The connection is, of course, that cremation is de rigueur for the theosophist to avoid the danger of being turned into a vampire. As theosophist theoretician Henry Olcott wrote in his pamphlet on the subject, "Of all the forms of the real or supposed intercourse between the living and the dead, that of the vampire is the most loathsome... it is another argument in favour of cremation."

You quote a source as saying that the foxes would like to be near "a grocery store, or (sic) a Tesco". I am sure the foxes in question have worked out that there is an excellent Waitrose just to the north of the Google building. As well as a superb foraging location, there's always lots of Central St Martins students around there shooting TikTok videos, which gives the opportunity for the foxes to work on their own social media profiles. Frankly, if I was going to infest anywhere, Platform 37 seems ideal.

Love the fox update. We can’t walk past Platform 37 without wondering if they’re still feasting on the builders’ left over lunches. We look forward to the next instalment.

Funnily enough Mr Maugham V Mr Fox (2019) is one of the few cases he's actually won!
